Then, the next two months, the euro is rising sharply to over $ 1.33.

More and more voices against the euro. Most recently, the CEO of Maurel and Prom and former banker has lambasted the single currency in an interview with La Tribune. Jean-Francois Henin does not beat around the bush, he said "Europe is dying by inches of its single currency.

The officer believes that Europe will not end the crisis without a significant depreciation of its currency. The skipper and evokes "a level of parity of 0.6 to the dollar" before adding "not the European Central Bank will not accept it." In fact, the latter expressed doubts about the fact that the euro can survive the crisis "which is just beginning," he said free 3-in-1 credit report.

Redeployment of "onshore"

Regarding the consequences of the spill, the leader of the French oil major said the companies are counting on a redeployment of oil production on land at the expense of offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

He suggested that no oil company is no longer able to "face the financial consequences of possible ecological damage. He said he expected consequences for production "in the years 2015/2020. "This should bring up to date the theory of" peak oil production ceiling, "said he.

A year after its introduction, the majority and the government seem divided on VAT at 5.5% in restaurants. To reduce the government deficit, Budget Minister Francois Baroin, this plane would "very, very large niche for tax, estimated at 3 billion euros Bercy. Its minister, Christine Lagarde, has cropped Tuesday morning: the reduced rate of VAT "is legitimate on the merits.

But the revolt against the old promise of Jacques Chirac, applied from 1 July 2009 thanks to the activism of Nicolas Sarkozy, also scolded the Assembly. Without naming the VAT on food, the general rapporteur for the Budget, Gilles Carrez (UMP), has questioned "a number of consumer items that are 5.5% and that should not be at 5.5 %. He advocates instead an intermediate rate to 12%.

Since the introduction of the measure for the restoration, the context is not the same. The government, which has hitherto led a recovery policy, had to change tack in recent months under pressure from the markets. It is now to reduce the deficit. Especially in the planing tax loopholes.

Nevertheless, the statements and Gilles Carrez Baroin were poorly received by restaurants. "It's absolutely outrageous to say that the 5.5% VAT tax is a niche!" Reacts Philippe Villalon, president of the National Federation of the restoration (FNRF). "We buy our products and we sell 5,5% to 5.5%. As is the case for all areas of the mouth. Moreover, if we repeat the policies they want to end VAT at 5.5%, we should not translate that we lower our prices, nor that we hired, as the state would break its part of contract. "

During the implementation of the measure, the restorers had promised to lower prices, to invest and hire. These commitments, which would take over in case of cancellation of VAT at 5.5%, would have been more or less respected. The Court of Auditors estimated last October that the measure would involve only 6,000 new jobs. The profession claims to the contrary today promised 21,700 against 20,000 a year.

Blow to Vivendi. According to the newspaper Valor Economico, the French group headed by Jean-Bernard Levy had committed irregularities in the acquisition of the Brazilian telecom operator GVT. According to information from the newspaper, without citing its sources, Vivendi did not inform the "appropriate investors." The supervisory authority of the Brazilian markets, CVM believes that the French government carried out an operation "bad faith" after starting last November a tender offer for 100% stake in GVT.

Vivendi is in fact suspected of violating securities regulations in skewing his information to markets, and other pretenders to the redemption of this Brazilian Telecom Operator. He allegedly claimed to hold a controlling stake in the capital of GVT as he had in fact acquired option contracts on the title of Brazilian online payday advance. Vivendi would have claimed a victory before actually winning the race.

The group first acquired 53% of GVT for 2.2 billion dollars, then gradually took total control of the Brazilian operator to four billion dollars. The transaction closed in late April after a fierce battle with Spain's Telefonica.

The Market Authority has not confirmed this information. A spokesman said that the CVM agency had issued no press since its announcement in March that it was opening an investigation into Vivendi for possible irregularities.

If fraud is proved, Vivendi would afflict a large fine by the Brazilian stock Constable.According to the daily Valor, it would be at least 1.3 billion euros.

It was one component of the rivalry between the U.S. and the USSR during the Cold War. The race for agricultural production between the two countries back on the front of the stage, 19 years after the fall of the USSR. Indeed, for the first time in its history, Russia achieved its goal: to surpass the U.S. in terms of wheat production. According to figures from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Russia should produce, on the 2009-2010 campaign, about 61.700 million tons against 60.314 million for the United States. The difference is slight but significant enough to give a historical dimension to the event.

"Russia will be content with this revenge after being overtaken by the U.S. as world's largest producer of gas in 2009," said Arnaud Dubien, Russia specialist at the Iris. But for observers, the news is almost an anecdote in relation to long-term goals that will give Russia. "The food insecurity is a sensitive issue for Russia. It is about strategic security, "says Arnaud Dubien.

Giant agricultural

The renewed interest in the Russian administration for the agricultural sector clearly demonstrates the strategic issue. Agriculture had been abandoned by the government following the collapse of the USSR. The collapse of output was such that the country had to get food aid from the European Union in late 1998. In 2005 Awareness is. Vladimir Putin made agriculture a mainstay of his country's development. Two years later, he launched a five-year plan based on credits to farmers, and with 551 billion rubles (13.7 billion euros). The oligarchs are called upon.Vladimir Potanin, co-founder of the giant Norilsk Nickel is one of them.

The successor of Vladimir Putin, continues the momentum. At a forum in St. Petersburg June 5, 2009, Dmitry Medvedev replaced the wheat "at the center of life". "By implementing intensive methods in agriculture, using the proper techniques of growing wheat and raising the yield to 24 quintals per hectare, we can produce 112 to 115 million tonnes of wheat annually. And up to 133 to 136 million tons in putting into operation of additional arable land, "he said.

Export power

For analysts of the wheat market, these objectives are not surprising. "Russia is already the fourth largest producer. In 2010, the country should be the third largest exporter, just behind the EU, provides Nicolas Fragneau manager Amund Funds Global Agriculture low fee pay day loans. Currently, the EU holds first place on the podium producers (138.143 million tonnes) followed by China (114.500) and India (80.680).

Largest producer, Russia still suffers from a less assertive export. But the Russian government is working hard to address them. "Russia built ports, silos for storage. She is currently addressing all infrastructure problems. Already, since 1 July 2009, the beginning of the current year, exports reached 12 million tons, "says Michael Porter, manager of Agritel. These investments are valued by the Russian government to a range of 50 to 100 million by 2011.

Competition sharpens

The U.S. and the EU are a chilling eye development of the Russian market. The country of Medvedev already nibbling their ground in their natural turf, including Egypt, the world's largest importer of wheat. "Russia has won the bulk of the market with 420,000 tons sold since our previous state of play", remarked bitterly FranceAgrimer in its monthly report last February. The Asian market is also targeted by Russia with the aim of building "an eastern corridor development.

While FranceAgrimer reported a "competition always aggressive," analysts raised their findings: "the Russian wheat is cheaper because there are fewer loads. The only way the EU is to be as competitive as it will have to rely on the Russians, "slice Michel Portier. For their part, U.S. farmers to regulate competition through alternative crops. The final report of sowing the USDA shows that the U.S. should plant less wheat (-9%) and more corn (3%) and soybeans (1%) this year compared to last year.

Russia, bolstered by its untapped potential, is not ready to stop there. The country has 40% of global chernozem, the muck very fat and very fertile. "20 million hectares, unused since 1991 could be reintroduced into the production," Dmitry Medvedev announced last year. According to Arnaud Dubien, "with the arrival of leaders close to Moscow, as in Ukraine, a post-Soviet wheat cartel could be formed, plus Kazakhstan. He could then become the breadbasket of the world.

As he finished 2009 with growth of 6% while it had begun with a fall of 14.5% in the first quarter, Turkey began a spectacular end to the crisis that has been entered in the recession a year ago. For 2010, the IMF puts growth in Turkish head of those emerging countries.

It has these good results and promising of these forecasts, the Turkish prime minister's visit to France, boast of the advantages of its economy. Over two hundred French entrepreneurs must meet Recep Tayyip Erdogan Medef Wednesday afternoon.

France is the second largest foreign investor in Turkey, with 593 million euros invested in 2009, while Renault has traditionally absorbs about a quarter. All the major French companies now rely on the potential of the 17th world economy.Leroy Merlin opened last week its first store in Bursa, a city in the West, Alcatel has opened a research and development center in Istanbul in March, Accor already has eight hotels and Axa is the first insurance company .

The weak link of the French presence remains that of SMEs. Only 40% of the 325 French companies are SMEs, disability compared to the Germans or Italians. However, "intensive trade between the chambers of commerce and regional partnerships are being put in place," says Raphael Esposito, director of the French Chamber of Commerce in Turkey Guaranteed payday loans. The environment sector looks particularly promising: the investment required for compliance with European standards is estimated at 70 billion euros in the next decade.

GDF ranks in Istanbul

Last year, bilateral trade totaled nearly 10 billion euros – the goal is to reach 15 billion euros in 2012 – and France became the 6th supplier of Turkey and its second largest client. "The sales volume has risen despite the crisis, welcomed a Turkish businessman T?siad member of the influential business association. Tensions are benefits and political tensions between the two countries save us. " In 2006, a bill to criminalize denial of Armenian genocide triggered a boycott of hexagonal Turkey.Paris's opposition to its entry into the European Union is still felt in the public tenders. Gaz de France is in line for the privatization of gas distribution network of Istanbul. But it is the Koreans who have signed a preliminary agreement in March to build the first nuclear power plant in Turkey.

Finally, the Franco-Turkish partnership in third countries represent a new avenue of cooperation. The French can benefit from the settlement of Turks in the Middle East and Central Asia and the Turks take advantage of the French presence in North Africa.

Athens loses patience. Having established an austerity plan unprecedented more than 10 billion euros to reduce its deficits, the Greek government requested that the European Union to turn goodwill. Prime Minister Georges Papandreou requested Thursday that European leaders to reach agreement at the summit next week on a mechanism to help Greece.

The head of government, speaking before the European Parliament in Brussels, was also skeptical about the suggestion by Angela Merkel, to be able to exclude a country from the euro area. "Just punishment could not be the solution. And punish and exclude a country would be a failure not only for the country (excluded) but also for the Union "Money as a whole, he said.

Besides the penalties, "the important thing is that we must ensure that countries that have problems are also supported," he said. On this point, George Papandreou reiterated that his country "does not claim to help": "We are not asking for money from Germans, French, Italians, and other workers or taxpayers."

"What we are saying is that we need strong political support to enable us to make necessary reforms and ensure that we will not pay more than necessary to implement these reforms, he explained to MEPs, before threatening again to resort to using the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This last possibility is rejected by the European Central Bank and by France and Germany.

The European Commission has however said Thursday morning contemplating to use the IMF was "normal, logical and prudent."

This polytechnician Franco-Ivorian then 40 years and worked for international consulting firm McKinsey study. Yet he prefers to prevent the caller who asked him to go to an interview for a position at the first insurer in the United Kingdom.

At that time, Tidjane was scalded by all its difficulties in finding a position to match its ambitions in France. However, his resume is not supposed to let recruiters indifferent. Born into a family of C?te d'Ivoire, son of former Ivorian Minister of Information and an illiterate mother until his thirty years Tidjane joined the cream of French schools in a faultless display. After preparatory classes, he pocketed his diploma from the Ecole Polytechnique in 1984 and parade on the Champs Elysees on July 14.
The fight against the discrimination he experienced in France became one of his fights. In a text entitled "What does being French," written for the think-tank "Institut Montaigne," the man tells her "frustration" when one of her classmates became hunter head told him to have his name struck off the list "because the answer was invariably: profile interesting and impressive, but you understand … '. He said he tired of constantly hitting the "glass ceiling" image means economic difficulties of a class of person to get to a position of responsibility.Term frequently used for women.

Parenthesis policy

Before the episode Aviva Tidjane fled discrimination in the economic world to take refuge in politics. With again, an extraordinary journey. After his degree, he took a sabbatical to attend the Young Professionals Program of the World Bank. A training program designed to attract the best young talent around the world. In 1994, he accepted a post as head of the National Bureau of Technical Studies and Development of the new President of C?te d'Ivoire, Henri Konan B?di?, he proposes. It will occupy until the coup of December 1999.

In August 1998, he became Minister of Planning and Development of his homeland. That same year he was selected among the "100 most promising leaders of tomorrow 'Forum in Davos (Young Global Leaders of Tomorrow). He was elected member of Dream Cabinet in 1999 and the Consultative Council of the Institute of the World Bank. With his little glasses and his smile, Tidjane convincing as Tony Blair. The British prime minister at the time chose to be a member of his Commission for Africa.

Back to Economics

In 2002, Tidjane closes the parenthesis policy by accepting a position with Aviva as director of strategy and development. He opts for the Great Britain said that "very tolerant and very open." Ambitious, Tidjane quickly climbed the ranks to become CEO of the biggest insurer in Britain. So when he decided to "downgrade" to the position of CFO at the competitor Prudential in September 2007, the new surprises. "This is not common. It almost never happens except when the directors of the divisions run much smaller, "says Gavin Hinks, British journalist. "Tidjane is obviously a very talented and ambitious. This is clearly someone who is being tipped for the top and should not remain very long time CFO.

The reporter was right. In October 2009, Tidjane becomes CEO of Prudential. He became the first passage to black to head a multinational FTSE 100. The City is also in love. So much so that she heartily applauded his promotion.

Today, the strategic choices of the Ecole Polytechnique are unanimously. The latest to Asia is no exception to the rule. Five months after his arrival at the head of Prudential, the group set out to conquer the biggest emerging market in the world. When Tidjane formalized the acquisition of Asian operations of AIG by a transaction colossal $ 35.5 billion, the news has excited all the financial centers of the United States to Asia via Europe. Incidentally, Prudential has also returned to profit in 2009, with a net profit of 676 million pounds (about 755 million euros) over the past year, against a loss of 396 million pounds (493 million euros ) a year earlier.
